Ministry to Shut-ins
Rose Compton serves as the pastor to Brownsville’s
Shut-In ministry, in which she ministers to the home-bound and nursing home
members of Brownsville Church. Her
main goal for these shut-ins is to pray with them, always have a positive
attitude, and encourage them. She also
spends time fellowshipping with these people by preparing meals or simply
having lunch with them. Rose transitioned
from her previous post as administrative assistant to her current pastoral role in December
of 2004. She had previously served Rev.
John Kilpatrick (former Senior Pastor) for over 21 years.
Rose attended Auburn
University at a young age, where
she married her childhood sweetheart and eventually lived in various parts of
the country. Over the years, she held an
assortment of jobs, including work at the Pentagon, running an antique
business, and being employed as an assistant for several attorneys. Rose finally came on staff at Brownsville
in 1983, where she has served faithfully ever since. She has two children and five grandchildren
that live in Navarre,
Florida.
